Chemistry

  • Explore the ways chemistry affects our lives, from food chemistry to manufacturing sustainable products
  • Engage in activities and perform experiments in a college chemistry laboratory

  • Engage in interactive games that mimic real-world trade
  • Gain understanding of US macroeconomics policies from nationally recognized economists
  • Explore socio-economic issues as they vary from country to country and throughout time
  • Learn about the US banking system through interactive monetary trade game

Environmental Studies

  • Climb into the canopy of an old-growth forest
  • Dig in the dirt at our urban farm
  • Explore how to promote an environmentally sustainable and socially just world
  • Explore climate change, sustainable agriculture, environmental justice, conservation photography and more!

German and Scandinavian

  • Expand your knowledge of the German, Swedish and other languages
  • Cook a traditional German meal
  • Learn about dragons, Grimm’s Fairy Tales, and the Vikings of Scandinavia
  • Discuss WWII, the Holocaust, and the post-war era with professors
  • Discover the music German high schoolers are listening to right now

Performing Arts

  • Learn about instrumental, voice, dance and theater classes by nationally accomplished professors
  • Understand performance as an art with theory lectures
  • Write and perform small skits in groups
  • Collaborate with group to perform live and celebrate with your family

Product Design

  • Learn about product design: manufacturing and fabrication of consumer products
  • Design products and the packaging to take home
  • Learn and use two & three-dimensional computer design tools
  • Use laser cutters and 3D printers

Psychology

  • Encounter real brains with the Brain Development lab
  • Explore the social psychology with every day mind-reading activities
  • Visit the MRI scanner to learn about interactions between magnets and the brain
  • Learn about imaginary friends, clinical psychology, and cognitive science from internationally recognized professors

Speech and Persuasion – NEW

  • Learn to structure your thinking
  • Increase your confidence and effectiveness as a speaker, critical thinker, and student
