When two economics professors saw the need to increase access to higher education they asked how?
How can we show high school students that college is attainable? How can we show that college can be fun and rewarding?
The answer? The SAIL Program.
The SAIL program is dedicated to serving middle and high school students from under represented backgrounds by giving them tools to enroll and succeed in college through early exposure and exploration of higher education.
Reaching Tomorrow's Leaders
Launched in 2005 by the UO Department of Economics the Summer Academy to Inspire Learning (SAIL) program encourages bright students to attend college by showing them what university life is all about Beginning with an initial week-long economics camp, the program has grown from 15 to over 300 students, one camp to 17, and from 10 faculty to over 80.
